Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Julia Fiona Roberts is the fourth generation Roberts who reside in Atlanta. Her father had keen interest from a young age in theater. As an undergraduate at Emory University, he performed in a variety of productions in Atlanta. He joined the Air Force. While stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a show together with Betty Lou Bredemus. The couple got married in 1955, and their first son Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter attended Tulane University at New Orleans In 1957, the city of Louisiana where the couple left the US Air Force. Walter worked for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the family moved in Decatur Georgia. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou began production on the local Saturday morning children's television program called Bum Bum and His Buddies which they financed on their own. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou founded The Actors and Writers Workshop. It ran for six years. The couple had another two children: Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also called Lisa) as well as Julia Billingsley (1967) (also know as Julie).
